OSCAL PowerMax 2400SE Review: The Smart Mid-Size Power Station That Balances Portability and Power

OSCAL PowerMax 2400SE

2016Wh That Actually Moves

At 24.45 kg, the PowerMax 2400SE is the midpoint in OSCAL's lineup. It carries more than half the capacity of its bigger sibling the 3600SE but shaves off nearly 20 kg. That trade-off matters the moment you lift it into a car or wheel it from the garage to the backyard. For anyone who found the 3600SE overkill for a weekend trip, this is the unit OSCAL should have led with.

The 2016Wh LiFePO4 pack is rated for 3,500+ cycles to 80% capacity. Run it daily and it outlasts a decade. The chemistry itself is the selling point here: no cobalt, no thermal runaway drama, just a battery that degrades slower than the appliances it powers.

2400W Meets 4800W Surge

The pure sine wave inverter pushes 2400W continuous with a 4800W surge ceiling. That surge headroom is what separates a power station that can start a fridge compressor from one that trips and leaves you with warm groceries. In practice, it runs a microwave (700-1200W), a kettle, a power drill (400-800W), and a CPAP machine without breaking a sweat. Four AC outlets mean you are not unplugging one thing to plug in another.

The 14-port layout deserves a mention. Dual 100W USB-C PD ports, three 18W USB-A plus one 12W, dual DC5521 outputs, an Anderson connector, a 12V cigarette socket, and built-in wireless charging pads in the lid. Drop your phone or headlamp on top and it charges. No cable. It is a small touch that reveals genuine UX thinking, not a spec-sheet checkbox.

UPS That Does Not Blink

Like the 3600SE, the 2400SE switches to battery in milliseconds when the grid drops. Computers stay on. Routers keep blinking. Medical equipment does not skip a beat. Plug it between your wall and your critical devices, and it doubles as a permanent line-interactive UPS. That is not common at this price point.

Solar and Charging Speed

Solar input maxes at 1200W, and the AC charger pulls 1500W. Dual charging (AC + solar) tops up faster than either alone, though OSCAL does not publish a combined 0-80% figure. For context, the 3600SE hits 80% in 0.96 hours on dual input. The 2400SE should land around 1.2-1.5 hours given the smaller pack, which is still competitive. Car charging runs at 120W from a 12V socket, fine for topping up on the road but not for a full refill.

How It Stacks Up

Feature PowerMax 2400SE PowerMax 3600SE EcoFlow DELTA 2
Capacity 2016Wh 3600Wh 1024Wh

Solar Input 1200W 2400W 500W
Wireless Charging Yes No No
UPS Yes (ms switch) Yes (5-8ms) Yes (30ms)
Warranty 7 years 7 years 5 years

The 2400SE sits in a sweet spot. It doubles the DELTA 2's capacity and outpaces its solar input, while being far more portable than the 3600SE. The wireless charging lid and 14-port count are quality-of-life features that the competition at this capacity tends to omit.

Who It Is For

If you caravan, camper-trailer, or need a semi-portable home backup that one person can still maneuver, the PowerMax 2400SE is the ideal choice for you. Pair it with 1200W of solar and it becomes a genuine off-grid workhorse for weekends or emergency outages. For whole-home multi-day backup, step up to the PowerMax 3600SE. For ultralight camping, look elsewhere; 24 kg is not a backpack item.

The built-in WiFi and Bluetooth app control let you monitor consumption and toggle outputs from your phone, which is genuinely useful when the unit is tucked under a bench or in a storage bay. No crawling around to check the LCD.

What It Gets Right, What It Gives Up

The 2400SE makes smart trade-offs. You lose nearly half the capacity of the 3600SE but gain genuine portability. You lose the 3600SE's LED SOS/Morse signaling panel but gain wireless charging pads that you will actually use daily. The 1200W solar ceiling is half the 3600SE's 2400W input, but for a 2kWh pack that is proportionate and realistic.

The 7-year warranty and global certification suite round out a package that feels complete rather than compromise-driven. For the buyer who wants one box that covers camping, backup, and weekend projects without calling a friend to help lift it, the 2400SE earns its slot in OSCAL's lineup.
